Bad days.
They’re inevitable. They’ll come; they’ll show up unannounced and uninvited, maybe even overstay their welcome.
What do you do when they come? You sit. You should sit first. You can drink water too. And then try to start the conversation. They’ll be adamant and not even want to hear you at first, so you can stay silent for a while.
Let them take up space. Let them sprawl across your chest, heavy and defiant. Don’t fight them, you’ll lose. They’re stronger when you resist.
Instead, breathe around them. Exist beside them. Wait. Sit.
Don’t. Lose. Your. Seat.
Eventually, they’ll loosen their grip. Not because you did anything right, but because bad days, like all visitors, can’t stay forever. They tire themselves out.
And when they finally leave—and they will leave—don’t ask them when they’re coming back. Don’t say anything. Just let them go.
Then stand up. Drink more water. Open a window. Breathe.
Tomorrow might be kinder. Or it might not. But you’ll be here either way, and that counts for something.
Day 13❤️
